After Andhadhun, Sriram Raghavan to work with Saif Ali Khan?

Sriram Raghavan, after the consecutive successes of Badlapur and Andhadhun, has become Bollywood’s go-to director when it comes to edge-of-the-seat thrillers, peppered with dark humor and haunting background music. If we closely observe his filmography, barring Johnny Gaddaar, all his thrillers have starred actors who have never explored the genre before. Saif Ali Khan, who became popular with his penchant for poker-faced humor and urban comedy as the hero’s friend in films like Dil Chahta Hai and Kal Ho Naa Ho, sprung a pleasant surprise as the evil and ruthless boyfriend in Raghavan’s taut directorial debut, Ek Hasina Thi.

The duo collaborated again for Agent Vinod eight years later in 2012, and although the film had some eye-watering camerawork, foot-tapping music and an admirable canvas, it failed to grip or thrill. Well, now they plan to reunite for their third film soon. A source says, “Sriram is planning two scripts — one is the biopic on Param Vir Chakra awardee Arun Khetarpal, titled Ekkis, while the other is a thriller.

It continues, “He and Saif had been discussing doing a film together for some time. Recently, when they met, the filmmaker bounced off the ideas to the actor. The latter liked both the stories and they have decided to collaborate on one of the projects. Ekkis will mostly have a young actor playing the late lieutenant. There’s also another prominent role in the biopic, which suits Saif. If not this, the actor-director pair will definitely work on the thriller next. They are currently deciding which one to do first. The film is expected to go on floors in 2019.”
