#THROWBACKTHURSDAY: When Big B defeated death on August 2, 1982!
Amitabh Bachchan is a living legend and the true Shahenshah of Hindi Cinema. Nobody has forgotten till date that shocking incident on the sets of Coolie that almost trapped him into the clutches of death. On the fatal day of July 26, 1982, the actor suffered grievous injuries while shooting for a fight sequence with Puneet Issar.
But do you know the anecdote Bachchan shared regarding this incident? While interacting with the media a few years ago, he said that just a night before the 26th of July, he got a call from Smita Patil who asked him not to go for the shoot the next day. She had a premonition something fatal was waiting to happen. The actor refused to stall the shoot, went for the scene and was massively hurt immediately as the action sequence began. He had to land on a wooden table but lost balance. He was immediately rushed to the hospital. Doctors gave their best to treat him but for a few seconds, Big B was declared ‘Clinically Dead’! Fate had other plans, though. The actor regained consciousness and defeated death on the 2nd of August, 1982.
He took to his Twitter account and thanked everyone for the prayers and support that were showered on him that became his pillars of strength and survival. Have a look right here:-

Owing to this miraculous survival, Manmohan Desai decided to change the climax of Coolie, with Bachchan’s character surviving instead of dying. The rest is history!
