REVEALED: The story of Sanjay Dutt and his AK-56

Sanjay Dutt made his debut in 1981 with a film called Rocky. Little did he know that his future, both professional and personal, would be similar to the film’s title. The world has already seen in the latest song of Sanju, Kar Har Maidan Fateh, how the actor lost his mother just three days before the premier of his first film, and we all know by now his addiction to drugs. But this was just the beginning of a future that had far more obstacles and despair.

It’s no news that Dutt was convicted under TADA in the 1993 Bombay Blasts Case for illegal possession of an AK-56. But now the story behind the same has been unveiled! An author by the name of Yaseer Usman, who has written a biography on the actor called Sanjay Dutt: The Untold Story of Bollywood’s Bad Boy, has spilled the beans on the entire episode that turned the actor’s world upside down. It’s alleged that Dutt was introduced to the underworld kingpin, Dawood Ibrahim in 1992, when he was in Dubai shooting for the late Feroz Khan’s Yalgaar. He was also introduced to his brother, Anees Ibrahim, Samir Hingora and his partner, Hanif Kadawala.

It was the 16th of January, 1993, when Sanjay Dutt asked two police constables to leave, who were employed to guard his father, the late Sunil Dutt’s residence, where he was residing as well. It was on that day Dutt was visited by Abu Salem, who was linked with Dawood, and two more men. They arrived to deliver some ‘tennis balls’ and ‘guitars’ at the behest of the actor. However, two days later, Dutt returned the delivery and kept only one’guitar’. Was this an actual one or the AK-56 that dragged his life into the heap of controversies and near-collapse? We shall find out on June 29, when we see his story unfold on the big screen in his biopic, Sanju.
