Saif Ali Khan to fight the British in his next!

Saif Ali Khan is one such actor who really likes to keep his hands full. After Rangoon, which did not do as well as the team had expected, he has filled his kitty with two very different kinds of characters. One of them being a gravely ill character with a bucket list which includes tripping on psychedelic drugs for a film which will be directed by Akshat Verma, titled Kalakandi, while the other one being that of a chef in an official remake of Jon Favreau‘s Hollywood flick Chef.

We thought that with two such very different roles, Saif will not be looking at any other projects for the time to come as he would need time to prepare for each one of them, but our Khabri Keeda has once again surprised us with what Saif has signed up for.

Turns out, Saif Ali Khan will once again be revisiting the historical drama genre as one of the warriors who fought the Battle of Buxar in October 1764.

The battle was between the forces under the command of the British East India Company, led by Hector Munro and the combined forces of Mir Qasim, the Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II, the Nawab of Awadh and the Nawab of Bengal. The battle is named so as it was fought in the town of Buxar, a small fortified area in the territory of Bengal.

What we know from KK is that this film will be produced by Aanand L Rai, the man who has given us mega hits such as the Tanu Weds Manu franchise and has his next with Shah Rukh Khan where SRK will be playing a dwarf. As per KK, Navdeep Singh will be directing this film. Singh had last directed Anushka Sharma’s NH10.

We still have to know as to which of the emperors Saif will be portraying. An official announcement from the team is also yet to be made.

Seems like Saif Ali Khan is on a signing spree. Is he getting desperate to deliver a hit?

Nevertheless, it will be a treat to see him as an 18th-century warrior!
