Will Salman Khan’s legal troubles ever end?
Salman Khan and his legal woes go hand-in-hand. The ghost of the hit-and-run case of 2002 was looming large on the actor for over 13 years when he was finally acquitted by the Bombay High Court in May 2015. The Blackbuck case of 1998 still continues to hang in the balance and the next hearing is expected to be held in the second week of August. The actor has now embroiled himself in another legal matter.
We reported a few months ago how Salman was under the scrutiny of the Valmiki Community when he referred himself as a Bhangi while describing his dancing skills. That insensitive comment irked the religious group and they decided to file a complaint against him in at least six different states across the country. The matter has now reached the Supreme Court and Chief Justice of India, Deepak Mishra will decide the fate of the star. Salman requested the Court to quash all the FIR’s registered against him and all the complaints against him were set aside by the Court under the SC/ST act.
A memorandum against Salman was signed by Kirankumar Solanki, National President of Valmiki Swaraj Abhiyan, and Ishwar Solanki, President of the All Gujarat Rushi Samaj Sena and read, “I recently saw content on social media in which Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty uttered casteist remarks in which they insulted the Valmiki community. My community’s sentiments are hurt by their remarks. Kindly initiate action against Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty under the sections of the Atrocity Act.”
