Will Rohit Shetty make a franchise out of Ranveer Singh’s Simmba? The director answers

Ranveer Singh’s Simmba is expected to end the year with a BANG! This hardcore masala entertainer has Rohit Shetty’s stamp all over. But there’s a small problem, this action potboiler echoes the same style and sentimentality of Shetty’s earlier cop-drama, Singham. The trailer was truly entertaining but people couldn’t help but feel a sense of Deja Vu. Talking about this in a recent interaction with the media, Shetty said, “Yeh speculations hote rahega and yeh galat nahi hai. But yeh (Simmba) bilkul alag hai. Yeh Singham ka universe hai jismein aur ek bacha bada hota hai aur corrupt officer hai…Jo ki simmba hai. Agar same hota toh main hi bore hojata banate waqt.”

And when asked if he has any plans to make this a franchise, the director stated, “If audiences like him in Simmba, we will definitely continue with him.” Well, that’s quite a revelation! Ranveer has already described working on this film as his most fulfilling experience as an actor as he felt he was at home. Shetty’s brand of larger-than-life scenarios and unabashed tomfoolery perfectly compliments Singh’s unapologetic and unfazed demeanor. This is a match that should deliver enough bang for your bucks!
