Will Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham have a TV version?

Known to revolutionize the Indian Television with immensely popular and successful TV shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Ekta Kapoor now reportedly is planning to adpopt the story of Karan Johar’s family drama, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and bring it to the small screen.

Given her meticulous understanding of the viewers’ choice, it won’t be a surprise if she passes the litmus test by taking such a massively successful film to the Indian Television. Ekta Kapoor is in talks with Sony Entertainment Television to launch the new serial.

The film that boasted off an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor, was a runaway hit in India and equally well-received internationally as well.

Bringing the film to the television screen will be a major challenge for the makers as they have to live up to the legacy of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. What will be interesting to see is the actors Ekta Kapoor ropes in to play the film’s respective characters.
