When Deepika Padukone’s stardom SCARED Majid Majidi!

The 58-year-old Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi has been in the news for being the first guy to give Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khatter his first break as a lead in the upcoming film, Beyond The Clouds. The film, which now has debutant Malavika Mohanan taking charge as the female lead, was famously supposed to have Deepika Padukone.

Many speculations had been made to pin down the real reason for Deepika to not eventually land the role, but now we think that all the rumors will be put to rest for good!

As it turns out, Majidi did not have any problems with Deepika Padukone the actor (of course, who would) but he had issues with Deepika Padukone the superstar!

To set records straight, Majidi said, “I didn’t want to work with Bollywood superstars. I always wanted to shoot at different locations in Mumbai, because places are also characters in my films. But even for one audition, it was difficult with Deepika (Padukone) as there was a large crowd and even more curiosity. That was the reason for not wanting to cast a superstar,”

To this, he added, “I chose my cast and crew from India because I needed them to understand the social situations. Anil’s shooting style is close to mine. We scouted for locations for months. Rahman is my special friend and a real star. He scored a track which I didn’t like. One day when I was going to sleep, he asked me to listen to a song. The biggest challenge with him is that he wants you to work all night with him,”

 Ishaan Khatter’s debut film, Beyond The Clouds, celebrates the life of the underprivileged sections of India and the life of a brother-sister duo at the center of it.
