Yes, you read that right! The MAIN reason why Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was not cast in a film featuring Zero star Shah Rukh Khan was the pair of drool-worthy bright and wide eyes that she possesses. Any guesses which film are we talking about?
It’s a tough nut to crack until and unless you haven’t read up on it, so we are going to spell it out for you. Turns out, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, who had become the pair to watch out for thanks to films like Mohabattein, Devdas and Josh did not make it to the final cast list of Mani Ratnam’s Dil Se. How do Ash’s eyes come into play? Reportedly, its director wanted a small-eyed female protagonist as she was supposed to look believable as an Assamese woman, for which he thought Manisha Koirala was a perfect choice.
How do we know? Ash, while commenting on the subject, was quoted saying, “He definitely wanted a small-eyed girl in Dil Se.. She had to have that kind of physical features as she was supposed to be from Assam.”
However, Dil Se wasn’t the only Shah Rukh Khan film that she had to let go off. In fact, she was even supposed to be a part of Chalte Chalte and even reportedly shot a few sequences for the film as well. But however, for reasons best known to the makers, Hichki star Rani Mukerji took the reigns as its leading lady.
Do you think that Mr. Ratnam made the right choice for his Shah Rukh Khan-starrer? And, what are your thoughts on Aish as the leading lady in Chalte Chalte? Let us know!
