‘Vikalp’ producer arrested in a drug racket case
Bollywood film producer Subhash Dudani has been arrested in connection with a drug racket case. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has busted a huge drug racket in Rajasthan’s Udaipur and recovered 23,500 kg of Mandrax tablets (Methaqualone) worth around Rs 4,700 crore.
Mandrax is banned psychotropic substance under Schedule I of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. An overdose can lead to kidney failure, coma, vomiting and even death by cardiac and respiratory arrest.
DRI director general, Jayant Misra said, “A warehouse in Rajasthan’s Udaipur city, housing the drugs was busted on October 28. Dudani was arrested from Mumbai the following day. It is India’s biggest drug rackets busted by the DRI. Our Mumbai zonal unit got the tip off. It was further developed with the help of Border Security Force.”
Dudani had produced a thriller film titled ‘Vikalp,’ which released in January 2011.
