Vidya Balan: We are public figures, not public property

Vidya Balan will be seen in Vishesh Film’s next titled, ‘Begum Jaan’. The trailer of the film is out and it looks like this too shall be counted as one of Vidya’s best performances ever. But a recent event that took place at Kolkata Airport was a sad thing to happen to the actress.

Vidya was at Kolkata Airport for the launch of the trailer of her film along with producer Mahesh Bhatt and director Srijit Mukerji when she was asked by a male fan for a selfie. Vidya was more than happy to oblige. According to the reports, the fan while taking a selfie had put his arms around Vidya. However, Vidya asked him not to do that and he stopped. The man removed his hand but as soon as the actress posed for the camera she felt his hand on her backside. Balan ended up slamming him.

Talking about the incident Vidya said, “When a stranger puts an arm around you, be it a man or a woman you get uncomfortable because they are intruding into your personal space. We are public figures, not public property.”
