After garnering huge success through the biographical drama Soorma, a film which saw her pitted opposite Diljit Dosanjh, Taapsee Pannu is now apparently very keen to do yet another sports-based biographical film. And, we must say that her choice of subject is REALLY commendable!
Quite some time ago, we were amongst the first ones to report that Taapsee Pannu and Sonakshi Sinha were in contention to play the titular character of none other than Mithali Raj in her biopic. As is well known by now, Mithali Raj is the only highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket team who has surpassed the enviable 6,000 run-mark in the ODI series.
And now, we hear that things are finally moving forward. Reportedly, Viacom18 Motion Pictures is said to have acquired prerequisite rights for making a biopic on Mithali Raj and the makers are keen to rope in the Pink star Taapsee Pannu to play the titular role.
When asked about the biopic, the actress said, “The script is not in place so it’s too early to talk about it. Right now, they are collecting material and the script has not been written yet. If they offer me, I will be very happy. I really want to do a sports biopic,”
We too will be really happy to see you in the shoes of Mithali, Taapsee!
On the work front, Taapsee will be next seen in the Anubhav Sinha-directed Mulk which also has Rishi Kapoor and Prateik Babar in the lead roles. The film is slated to release on 3rd August 2018.
