Sonam Kapoor isn’t celebrating Holi this year!
The country has been waiting for the festival of colours to come up every year since time immortal. With the release of the much-awaited film Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya on the same day, Bollybuffs across the globe have an added reason to celebrate. The world of Bollywood has lavish parties on this colorful day. Rain dance, color fights and a plethora of beverages is what gets all the B-towners excited. But not Sonam Kapoor.
The Neerja star, at an event in Worli, stated “I’m not celebrating Holi this year, I don’t celebrate Holi too much! I used to celebrate it when I was a kid, that time it used to be safe but nowadays I feel unsafe to step out of my house.”
To explain why she further added “I don’t like people throwing balloons and permanent colors during Holi. It has become very unsafe now, I guess till we don’t follow a proper protocol and have a safe environment, I would not go for it. Earlier I used to go for all these Holi parties and used to love the rain dance. It has become unsafe now especially for girls. I used to love celebrating it but till the time the environment remains unsafe, thus I refuse to go!”
Sonam Kapoor, at the end of her speech, left the stage with a strong message for the society “To be empowered, to believe in yourself and to be who you want to be, damn the consequences!”
You go, girl! Well said.
