Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, who’s probably having the best time of her life, both personally and professionally, is now looking for an equally exciting 2019. She has The Zoya Factor coming up, where she teams up with her uncle Sanjay Kapoor for the first time and of course, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, which unites her with her dad Anil Kapoor on the celluloid. Talking about this film, it seems the actress is all set to shock and surprise all her fans, and may even take her biggest critics and naysayers by a storm. You may wonder why are we saying this!

If reports are to be believed, the actress will portray the role of a lesbian, did you read that line twice? A source says, “The makers have taken extreme precaution in keeping the plot under wraps. The only give away is the title, which not many could understand. Though Rajkummar is in love with Sonam and is all set to marry her, Sonam has fallen for a girl. The film deals with Kapoor’s conflicting love story. While 20 years back Anil Kapoor is seen lip syncing to this song as he falls in love with a girl, here it is used in some other reference.”

So is the title inclined towards Sonam and not Rajkummar Rao and Anil Kapoor? We guess so! Homosexuality has been portrayed on the celluloid umpteen times before, sometimes to make an impact, sometimes for comic relief. Films like Fire and Aligarh come to mind, when it comes to nuanced portrayals, and even Dedh Ishqiya, where most of the viewers missed and couldn’t really decipher the lesbian angle. It shall be intriguing to see how do the audiences connect with Sonam’s sexual preference.
