Sonakshi Sinha is happy for the ladies of B-Town!
From the daughter of a handicrafts maker to a fighter who took on a mini-cartel of corrupt cops, actress Sonakshi Sinha has done it all! She made her debut opposite Salman Khan in the blockbuster of that year Dabangg, and delivered that one-liner which unintentionally(and quite pleasantly) has become synonymous with the actress’s name ever since. Thappad se darr nahi lagta sahab … pyar se lagta hai. In no time this particular one-liner became the talk of the town.
With films like Lootera and Holiday:A Soldier Is Never Off Duty as part of her acting portfolio, she has proven that she never backs down from trying a woman-centric lead role. She was last seen opposite John Abraham in Force 2 and she has a somewhat similar profile in Noor. This goes to show that if you love and enjoy your work, in time you can graduate from being a fashion designer yourself to being a showstopper atop an international cruise for a celebrated fashion designer like Monisha Jaising herself!
“It’s a great time to be a girl in the industry because there are such wonderful roles being written for us,” Sonakshi told IANS over phone when asked how she feels about filmmakers concentrating on women-centric roles in Bollywood.
This raises a question: Is Sonakshi a fashion conscious person herself?
“Not at all. I have got a very individualistic style, which is grungy, edgy and sporty… Because that’s how I have always dressed since I was a child… I have grown up wearing boys’ clothes and I feel now that has become a fashionable statement… So, I think little bit of that is still in me,” said the actress, who has two brothers.
When asked for a professional opinion on Monisha Jaising, Sonakshi said she likes the designer’s work as her creations accentuate the Indian body.
We couldn’t agree more, Lady Sinha. We wish you a very diversified and self-satisfying career ahead!
