Sidharth-Sonakshi starrer Ittefaq to be similar to SRK’s FAN?
Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha have been working on their next, the thriller that goes by the name of Ittefaq. And from what we know, that Ittefaq belonging to the thriller genre isn’t the only commonality between the film and SRK‘s 2016 psycho-thriller FAN.
Similar to the movies from the west, the SRK-starrer psycho-thriller was one of those few films which didn’t have many musical sequences in between. Seems like Ittefaq co-incidentally (pun not intended) will follow suit. The musical sequences are being excluded so that the runtime can be shortened to be under two hours.
As confirmed by the male lead Sidharth Malhotra “We will either have a promotional track or a theme track. We are working on it.”
The film is the baby of a joint-venture of three of Bollywood’s biggest production houses, namely Red Chillies Entertainment, BR Productions and Dharma Productions. It is a modern-day adaptation of the classic thriller Ittefaq, and not a remake, similar to Vishal Bhardwaj and his movies, which are adaptations of famous plays by William Shakespeare.
“There will obviously be changes. We can’t keep the ending the same because then there would be no mystery otherwise. Abhay Chopra is reworking the entire plot and no, it’s not a period film. It’s based in contemporary times.” – added Sidharth Malhotra
“I have never worked with Sonakshi previously except that we did a fashion show together once. We are not playing lovers and it’s not a run-of-the-mill typical boy-meets-girl story. It’s actually thrilling and mysterious about what happened on that one particular night. But yes, I interact with her character the most in the film.”
As of now, Sidharth Malhotra has wrapped up Reload, his second film with Jacqueline Fernandez after Brothers, which is an action movie with some hardcore sequences. On the other hand, Sonakshi happened to finish shooting for Noor, where she reportedly plays a journalist.
