SHOCKING! Rajinikanth’s Kaala banned in Karnataka

On one hand, when all of Rajinikanth fans are desperately waiting for the release of Kaala on the 7th of June, there’s one state that has decided to ban the release of the film and that is Karnataka. The reason is the actor turned politician’s views on the Cauvery issue that has irked the State Government.

The President of the Karnataka Fringe group, Kannada Chalavali Vatal Paksha , Vatal Nagaraj said this about the film and Rajinikanth, We will not allow the release of Kaala in Karnataka. Rajinikanth’s stand on the Cauvery issue is unacceptable to us. He is against Kannadigas. So, we won’t allow the release of his film.” To make matters worse, the Karnataka Film Chambers of Commerce President also supported the decision of the Government to ban the film and stated, “As an actor, he always handled issues on Cauvery in a diplomatic way. But when he entered politics and formed a party, he made a direct attack on us, which has not gone down well with Karnataka. It is a question of our prestige and we want to keep our word. We will not allow his film to be released here.”

Well, this is indeed sad and shocking news for Thalaivaa’s fans and this isn’t the first time an actor’s film had to bear the brunt for his political or social issues. Aamir Khan’s participation in the Narmada Bachao Andolan led to the banning of his film Fanaa in Gujrat in 2006.
