No film has been speculated in recent memory as much as Salute, which now stars Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. Aamir Khan was signed to play the role of the late astronaut, Rakesh Sharma, but due to some creative and logistic differences, the makers roped in the Swades star. As far as the leading lady is concerned, Priyanka Chopra was the first choice, but after Aamir backed out and SRK came in, Priyanka too distanced herself from the biopic.
Wait, there’s slightly more! Deepika Padukone then came in the news to star with Shah Rukh and people thought she would be the final choice for the role, but the full and final choice has finally been revealed and that’s Kareena Kapoor Khan. Yes, Shah Rukh has roped in Kareena as the leading lady and the duo will reunite seven years after their last outing, Ra.One.
The film is expected to go on floors in September and release by 2019. On the work-front, Kareena has been signed by Dharma Productions opposite Akshay Kumar, as we reported earlier today, and the film may also have Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar. SRK, on the other hand, is gearing up for his ambitious film, Zero, which is all set to release on the 21st of December, 2018.
