WHAT! Salman Khan was not the first choice for Karan Arjun

Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan starrer Karan Arjun is one of the most remarkable films made in the history of Indian cinema. The film not just received a good response from the audience but it even became the second highest grossing film of 1995. Karan Arjun is mainly remembered for the two superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. But do know Salman Khan was not the first choice of the film and even Shah Rukh Khan had almost opted out of the film.

Rakesh Roshan‘s daughter Sunaina Roshan revealed this big secret in his the biography of filmmaker Rakesh Roshan titled ‘To Dad With Love’ which is written by her.

In the biography she wrote “Initially, he (Rakesh Roshan) had signed Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan but both actors wanted to switch roles and go against their respective images- SRK wanted to do all the action, Ajay wanted to romance! Dad then decided on Salman Khan and Aamir. He got Salman’s dates but Aamir couldn’t give him dates for the next six months.”

She also added “Meanwhile, SRK returned to the film and agreed to do the romantic role. So Dad went to Aamir and told him that he had got Salman’s dates and would like to start shooting without any further delay. Aamir accepted the explanation and opted out of the film. Finally, Dad got the best that any filmmaker could have hoped for- Shah Rukh and Salman to play ‘Karan Arjun’. The film became a blockbuster and went on to acquire cult film status,”

Well, we are surely thankful that Salman and Shah Rukh Khan were part of the film because instead of them we could not have imagined anyone as Karan and Arjun.
