Saif Ali Khan to play the lead role in a Netflix original series
Through our breaking news, we had earlier informed you that Netflix has approached the Nawab of Bollywood Saif Ali Khan to star in their upcoming original Sacred Games. Well, Saif has taken up the opportunity and he will soon be seen playing the role of Sartaj Singh a police officer. Saif Ali Khan has become the first Indian star to feature in a Netflix original.
Speaking about the series Saif said, “Content In the digital space is taking over the existing dynamics at a rapid pace – the crown in the digital empire lies with Netflix, and it’s extremely satisfying to partner and participate in the first original series from India to be showcased on Netflix.”
Erik Barmack, vice president of international original series at Netflix, said, “Saif’s role is layered and complex, and we are thrilled to be working with such a fantastic actor to bring this story to a global audience.”
The series is set in Mumbai and will be based on a novel by Vikram Chandra of the same name. The novel delves into the city’s complex web of organised crime, corruption and politics that lie beneath India’s economic renaissance.
Well, we just hope the web series works well for Saif as he surely needs a boost in his career after major flops like Rangoon, Humshakals, Phantom.
