Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who played the role of a ruthless gangster Ganesh Gaitonde in the critically acclaimed Netflix Original Series, Sacred Games became an International star with the help of the 8-part series. His terrific acting was well appreciated by the masses and classes alike, which has led to the announcement of Sacred Games Season 2, which is presumably the scripting process as of now.
Check out this post by none other than Anurag Kashyap himself, which features him and his Sacred Games writers team:
Coming back to Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s character, we have learned that only is Ganesh Gaitonde famous among the Indian audience, but the Italian folks love it too.
What makes us say so? During an interview with a leading daily, the Babumoshai Bandookbaaz actor shared that, “I was in Rome [shooting for Tannishtha Chatterjee’s yet-untitled directorial] the same week when Sacred Games released. What was interesting was the fact that not only Indians but the locals also recognized me as Ganesh Gaitonde and appreciated my performance. I have never seen this kind of adulation in my life. It is India’s first Netflix series. It is on par, or I would say, even better than the shows that are being made in various parts of the world.”
Talking about the season two of the show he added, “Anurag [Kashyap] told me that the second season will be bigger and better. It is in the scripting stage.”
Well Nawaz Bhai, we can’t wait to see you as the ruthless god-playing gangster Ganesh Gaitonde once again!
Directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane, Sacred Games was based on the 2006 novel by Vikram Chandra that goes by the same name. All of the eight episodes of the series are available for binge-watching on the streaming giant’s online platform and app.
