Proceedings against actor Jeetendra stayed.

A news that took everyone by surprise and shock, veteran Hindi film actor, Jeetendra, was accused of sexual assault by his cousin. The case was registered against him on February 16. His cousin stated that the actor tried to sexually assault him in a hotel room back in January 1971. A FIR was registered against Jeetendra and the Himachal HC listed the matter for hearing on May 23.

The actor challenged the FIR and stated the same must be quashed, as it was registered without any preliminary investigation or evidence by the police. Meanwhile, further proceedings in the FIR registered at Women Police Station, Shimla, under Sec 354 (Assault or criminal force to a woman to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code, have been stayed.

The woman in question claimed that Jeetendra, who is her aunt’s son, asked her to join him for a film shoot in Shimla. She went on to state that on the night she reached the location, the actor went to her room, completely drunk, joined the two beds, and tried to sexually assault her.

We only have to wait to see what lies ahead in the fate of Jeetendra. But now, he can breathe a sigh of relief.
