Padmavati Row: Union Minister Uma Bharti goes against Karni Sena
As Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati is nearing its release date the protest against it has also mounted up. Today the Karni Sena chief Lokendra Singh Kalvi even made a remark on actress Deepika Padukone and said that if need be, action will be taken against the actress.
Mahipal Singh Makrana said, “Rajput Karni Sena is fighting to protect the image of women being portrayed in the films. We never raise a hand on women but if need be, we will do to Deepika what Lakshman did to Shurpanakha for violating the rules and culture of India.”
Finally, Union Minister Uma Bharti has come out in support and said Padmavati should not be attached with the Rajput community as it represents the pride of Indian woman. The union minister in a series of tweets raised her vice on the same.
If we are talking about the respect of #Padmavati, then it is our moral obligation that we respect every woman.— Uma Bharti (@umasribharti) November 16, 2017
Disrespect of the actress or actor of #Padmavati is uncalled for and immoral.— Uma Bharti (@umasribharti) November 16, 2017

4. The director and his associate as the scriptwriter of #Padmavati are responsible for its story. They should have taken care of the sentiments and the historical facts.

6. I have been assured that Censor Board will take care of all the issues being raised. I am confident that they are already informed about the concerns being raised by the people. #Padmavati

Film Censor Board is an independent organisation. We expect that the film will be cleared taking the sentiments of people into consideration.— Uma Bharti (@umasribharti) November 16, 2017
I appeal the artists who have acted in the film to not become a party. Its story is the responsibility of director & scriptwriter #Padmavati— Uma Bharti (@umasribharti) November 16, 2017
She even added that prior to the release of the film, filmmakers, historians, and the censor board together should form a committee and then come up with a decision.
Padmavati is slated to release on December 1.
