Padmavati Row: Here’s how the film might be CONTROVERSY PROOF!
Since the day Sanjay Leela Bhansali yelled ACTION on the first day of the shooting his magnum opus, Padmavati, it has been facing a lot of flak as during the first schedule itself, sets were broken, vandalized and the filmmaker Bhansali was slapped hard by the self-styled guardians of Indian history, Shri Rajput Karni Sena.
Fast forward to today, where the threats against the makers have grown by leaps and bounds and the film is facing a ban in four states for NO reason at all!
So, one might guess that as producers, the release of the film being delayed will be rather troublesome as this will severely affect the collections of the film, right?
Well, turns out, the producers are smarter than we think, as Viacom 18 and Bhansali Productions have already insured the film for 140 crores, which is almost all of its production cost, including the damages done to the sets.
So, what does this mean? If the sets get vandalized or even burned down, the makers can claim the amount from New India Assurance and since the release of the film looks hazy in the near future, the makers stand to receive a whopping amount of 80 crores.
But, the insurance scheme, obviously, has its limitations. While the insurance scheme protects the film in the events of vandalism, protests and weather-related issues, New India Assurance is nothing but a bunch of sitting ducks if the government has banned the screening themselves.
So, given that many religious organizations have called out an attack and only a few governments are opposing the release as of now, can the makers claim their dues?
Let’s wait to find out!
