Padmavati Row: Dead body found hanging outside Jaipur’s Nahargarh Fort

For a few days, the makers of Padmavati have been facing threats from various communal groups. But looks like the whole Padmavati row has taken a deadly turn as a dead body was found hanging at the main gate of Jaipur’s Nahargarh Fort. Along with the body, a note was found which read ‘We don’t burn effigies, we kill’

The Jaipur police are investigating the case and it is not sure whether it is a suicide or a murder. The man identified is a Chetan Kumar, a 23-year-old resident of Jaipur.

The police added “It doesn’t look like he was alone. It would take more than one person to tie the rope around the fort parapet and the embrasure,” the source added.

The Karni Sena President has condemned the whole situation and said “This is not the way to send a message. If anyone wants to send out a message of such sort, it is imparting a wrong message. Opposition to Padmavati is justified, but this is not justified.”

Padmavati starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor is based on the legend of Rani Padmini, a Hindu Rajput queen, mentioned in Padmavat, an Avadhi language epic poem written by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi in 1540.
