The cast and crew of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is gearing up for the films’ release in mid-August. Just so that the film and its message reaches everyone, the film is being promoted on all the platforms known to man, digital or otherwise. But, there are also severe downsides to the digital era, and the makers of the Akshay Kumar-Bhumi Pednekar starrer (almost) felt the brunt of it.
Ever since the trailer got a nod from Narendra Modi, it has clearly left us excited!
As it turns out, the film (almost) got leaked online as it landed in a pen drive which made its way to filmmaker-choreographer Remo D’souza’s gym trainer, Vithal.
In an official statement, Remo said “I met someone who told me that he already has the movie (Toilet Ek Prem Katha) on his pen drive. Initially, I didn’t believe him, but he seemed serious, and told me to check that for myself. When I checked the pen drive, it contained Toilet Ek Prem Katha, and I was shocked. I first called Akshay sir, but since he was in London, he was unavailable. Then I called up Prerna Arora, the producer, told her about the situation, Director Shree Narayan Singh came and collected the pen drive from me. They will be taking legal action against piracy, and I will talk to Akshay sir once he is back.”
In an another tabloid interaction, Remo said “I am a filmmaker and I know how the world comes crashing down if anybody’s film from my fraternity is exposed before it hits theaters.”
Luckily, the film had landed in Remo’s safe hands, who instantly rang up the producer Prerna Arora, and eventually, the pen drive was recovered from Remo’s office. Now, the makers and the cast are having a sigh of relief.
The crime branch, who had been investigating the matter, zeroed down on the assistant of one of the producers, Akanksha, who allegedly forgot the film-containing pen drive somewhere. We are yet to learn as to what happened after that.
However, it wasn’t the first time Toilet was nearly heading towards some serious trouble. There has been a case of a Rajasthani filmmaker and an another legal notice which has been slapped on the makers of Akshay Kumar‘s film!
Akshay soon took to Twitter to thank the crime branch and urge his fans to say no to piracy by tweeting the following
Joining him, the Young Blood of Bollywood also tweeted the following
This surely gives us a sigh of relief!
