Neil Nitin Mukesh portrays Sanjay Gandhi almost perfectly

Madhur Bhandarkar is currently working on the film ‘Indu Sarkar’, based on the Indira Gandhi-imposed Emergency that set off nearly two years of widespread arrests. While the filmmaker has been mum on the issue, we got our hands on one of the images from the film.

Neil Nitin Mukesh will be playing the role of young Sanjay Gandhi while Supriya Vinod will be essaying the role of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the Yashwantrao Chavan biopic. Kirti Kulhari of ‘Pink’ fame will be playing the lead in the film.

A source close to the film revealed, “Great efforts were taken to ensure that he looks like a carbon copy of Sanjay Gandhi. Neil has also been reading up a lot on the Gandhis and the Emergency period to prep for his role.”

The film will release in mid-2017.
