Mauritian Govt wants Omung Kumar to shoot in Mauritius
National Award winning filmmaker Omung Kumar who has been associated with successful films like ‘Mary Kom’ and ‘Sarbjit’ recently visited Mauritius. While there, the filmmaker met some of the prominent luminaries from the country who welcomed Omung giving him the opportunity to explore the island nation due to his immense love for direction.
Among the dignitaries that the filmmaker met were the Hon. Minister of Public Infrastructure and Land Transport Mr. Nandcoomar Bodha, Sir Anerood Jugnauth at the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Nanda Narrainen and other executives from Board of Investment, Hon. Minister Roubina Jadoo-Jaunbocus [Minister of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare] and Hon. Minister Prithvirajsing Roopun [Minister of Arts and Culture, Government of Mauritius].
Omung Kumar says, “The Mauritius Government was highly hospitable and it was wonderful being there. As a shooting destination, the gorgeous island provides innumerable opportunities to explore. I am very excited at the prospect of making Mauritius a destination for film shoots.The Mauritius Government has been extremely helpful in lending a helping hand and announcing various facilities, incentives, and rebates for the Indian film industry.”
The filmmaker who had been invited by the Government of Mauritius intends to set new standards of filmmaking by taking Bollywood to Mauritius and opening new avenues of possibilities with the island nation for films and events.
Omung is among one of those filmmakers who possess the artistry and dexterity to envisage a particular scene in a certain way and bring that to life with his impeccable art and creative direction. In view of the same, the director explored and recced some of the most scenic and beautiful locales going location-hunting in the country. One of the many places he visited was the hugely popular Safari and wildlife reserves where he even walked with lions.
