LISTEN UP! Aiyaary has a SPECIAL connection with Special 26!
Celebrated filmmaker Neeraj Pandey is super-delighted as his next directorial, Aiyaary will make a splash on the silver screen on the 9th of February. But he is all the more elated about the release since that particular time of release is something that is very special to the ace director.
As it so happened, the Akshay Kumar-starrer Special 26, which was once again a Pandey directorial, also made it to theatres after the first week of February (On Feb 8, 2013), and it went on to become a MASSIVE success.
Special 26 is a film that has been very close to Neeraj, and coincidentally, the film will also complete five years along with the release of his next.
Special 26 came as a validation of sorts to Pandey as although it was a very unusual kind of a film, the audience had embraced it and how! This went on to prove to Pandey that the Indian audience is rather very supportive of off-beat plotlines.
But, this will also mean that he will get super-nostalgic as Aiyaary releases as the espionage drama once again features Manoj Bajpayee, who Pandey worked within the Akshay Kumar-starrer as well.
Talking about the same, Neeraj Pandey said, “After the release of A Wednesday, Naseer bhai told me that it’s not the first film but the second which is the more difficult one to make. Special 26 was just that. And five years ago when it released we were all overwhelmed by the response. It also started our association with Akshay and we cherish that journey. Most of the core team members that worked with us on that film continue to be with us and that means the world to us. Huge thanks to Bobby Singh (DOP) and Vikram Malhotra. Special 26 was a huge ensemble and so is Aiyaary. Its good to be back with an even more exciting story on the same date and we look forward to the same warmth and love from the audiences all over.”
The ace director who had directed MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has got back on the director’s seat for Aiyaary. Neeraj is known to be a veteran for bringing such subjects alive on screen. The film sets out to be all the more special as it is somewhat a reunion of the team of A Wednesday (Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah) with Pandey after 9 long years.
