Baahubali has made Prabhas an overnight sensation and that is not up for the debate at all. Given the kind of stardom the Tollywood actor has shot to now, only becomes natural to cash in on it.
One would remember that ever since Baahubali 2 made it to theatres, news has been afloat of him being possibly launched in Bollywood by the likes of Karan Johar and even Salman Khan. But, have you ever wondered as to why did the rumors die down so soon?
Turns out, his new and inflated price tag is what is giving KJo and others jitters.
A source close to the affair said, “Prabhas had devoted five years of his life to the two Baahubali films and it was only fair that he would want to cash in on his new success,” says the source, adding that Prabhas went ahead and asked for a new, inflated price. “But the price he asked for was staggering. While it was okay for him to ask and get his desired price — reportedly in the vicinity of Rs 20 crores — in Telugu cinema, it was unrealistic for Prabhas to expect that kind of remuneration in Bollywood. No South Indian actor, not even Rajinikanth, has that kind of commercial clout in Hindi cinema. Prabhas has clearly out-priced himself from Bollywood,”
To this, the source added, “After Baahubali and its sequel, Karan was keen to launch Prabhas in Hindi cinema. But on seeing the price he was asking, Karan has decided to abandon the idea of launching him.”
Well, it’s only natural for someone to ask a price like that when you have emerged as one of the biggest crowd pullers in today’s date.
Come on, Karan, don’t be such a Chindi!
