Karan, Dibakar, Anurag and Zoya to debut on Netflix
One of the reasons the footfalls in cinema halls have drastically reduced is the growing popularity of Netflix. With far superior and engaging content available online, viewers are getting attracted to the streaming service in massive numbers. And owing to its sky-rocketing craze, four of the most established and accomplished filmmakers in the business, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee and Zoya Akhtar are all set to make their debuts on the platform.
After their exemplary ode to the completion of a century of Hindi Cinema with Bombay Talkies in 2013, the four filmmakers are working on an anthology reportedly titled, Lust Stories. The short film will be a collection of four stories, similar to what was showcased in Bombay Talkies. The movie has been produced under Ronnie Screwvala’s banner RSVP, with producer Ashi Dua.
If reports are to be believed, Karan Johar’s story will star Vicky Kaushal, Kiara Advani and Neha Dhupia, Dibakar Banerjee’s story will see Manisha Koirala and Radhika Apte has been casted in Anurag Kashyap’s story.
“Lust Stories, four short films that deal with real-life relationships in modern India and brought together as one film brilliantly under a common theme by Anurag, Dibakar, Karan and Zoya is a perfect premiere for global audiences on Netflix,” Ronnie Screwvala said recently.
This is possibly the most exciting time for Indian content on Netflix, with Lust Stories being announced, Sacred Games to premiere soon and Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment also producing a show for it.
