Kapil Sharma Tweets to PM Modi
Kapil Sharma, who is the most celebrated comedian of Indian television was not being funny on Friday morning when he tagged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an angst-ridden tweet complaining about corruption. The ace comedian even sarcastically referred to the Prime Minister’s promise of ‘Achhe Din’.
The ace comedian alleged that he had been asked for a Rs 5 lakhs bribe from Mumbai’s civic body, the BMC, for setting up an office. Kapil’s tweet drew an instant reaction with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis promising instant action.
At the time of going to press, Kapil Sharma’s initial tweet was re-tweeted about 6,800 times and was liked about 9,600 times. The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) asked Kapil to make a formal complaint and even name the officer who demanded the bribe from him.
Let’s hope that Kapil’s tweet reaches the Prime Minister’s ears and stern action is taken against corrupt officers so that the common man does not have to suffer the social evil of corruption.
