Kapil Sharma files a case worth THIS MUCH on a journalist!
Kapil Sharma, the man who rose to dizzying heights with Comedy Nights With Kapil in 2013, was everyone’s favourite half a decade ago. Despite an ugly fallout with the Colors channel in 2016, the man’s journey was hardly unperturbed and he quickly brought out a new show in the same year on Sony TV, called The Kapil Sharma Show, which made equally massive ripples on the TRP charts.
Alas, as the Law of Gravity states that what goes up, must come down. After the unfortunate and unpleasant fight with fellow-colleague Sunil Grover on the flight from Australia to India, things began to shake up for the funny man. As a consequence of the mid-flight brawl, our beloved and much admired Dr. Mashoor Gulati (Grover’s character from The Kapil Sharma Show) ended up quitting the show and the TRP’s of Kapil’s show burnt down to ashes, which sent him into a state of depression. To add fuel to fire, Vickey Lalwani, the editor of an eminent movie portal, SpotboyE, allegedly wrote a handful of negative stories about the comedian for his website. All hell broke loose when a phone conversation of the two was posted by Vickey on the Internet, in which one can hear Kapil paaji hurling abuses on the editor.
Now, the legal team of Kapil has sent a legal notice worth Rs. 100 crores (Yes, THAT’S the figure!) to Vickey Lalwani and the portal for carrying out multiple negative stories against him, which caused him irreparable harm and damage.
The official statement that has been released by Sharma’s lawyer reads, “My Client states that the defamatory articles published by you were read by the public at large, and on account of the same, my Client has suffered grave and irreparable damage and injury on his reputation, goodwill, dignity and image which he has hard-won and painstakingly created in the Entertainment Industry and had to undergo enormous mental agony, anxiety and anguish in explaining the true and correct facts to his well-wishers, family members, friends, business associates as well as the persons from his social and business circle and the general public all over India and other well-wishers around the world”
Now, all we have to do is to wait for Vickey Lalwani’s legal counter to the same, as he believes whatever he wrote about the comedian was absolutely true. Whatever the fate of the matter might end up being, we sincerely hope that things get better for the Firaangi actor here.
