Kalank: Alia Bhatt joins Varun Dhawan on the sets TODAY!

The Karan Johar epic production, Kalank has been creating immense buzz since the day the first poster dropped in, part of which could be attributed to the fact that the film in question had been in talks for as long as fifteen years now and was originally supposed to be helmed by KJo’s father, the late cinematic legend that is Yash Chopra. But now, the film has been taken over by his 2 States director, Abhishek Varman.

A statement that was issued by KJo read, “KALANK has been an emotional journey for me! A germ of an idea that I had nearly 15 years ago, a film that was in a pre production stage helmed by my father., am now proud to pass it onto the extremely capable and visionary hands of our director Abhishek Varman! A beautifully structured story by Shibani Bathija and an exceptionally fluid narrative and screenplay by Abhishek.”

Another reason as to why the film in question is right up amongst the most anticipated ones is its star cast, which blew our mind away, to say the least.

While on the topic of its cast, we had reported just about yesterday that one of its four leading men, Varun Dhawan has begun filming his bit with a dance number in which he will be pitted opposite Kiara Advani. But now, recent developments suggest that this duo can perhaps soon become a trio as reportedly, Alia Bhatt will be joining the crew at Film City to kick-start her portion by canning her bit in the musical number.

A source close to the affair, while commenting on how the October star is going about his day at the sets of the epic story, stated that, “Varun began his rehearsals with Remo’s team four days before shoot and Kiara joined him on the last two days. In between shots, the actor would catch up on his workouts in a gym specially built on set.”
