Ishaan Khatter declines Metro sequel, is Karan Johar the reason?
Ishaan Khatter, after impressing a lot of people with Beyond The Clouds and Dhadak, has become the go-to actor for the filmmakers in the industry. One of them is the Barfi! director, Anurag Basu.
His next directorial, the Life in a… Metro sequel, has been in the news ever since it has been announced. While the first part had an ensemble cast of nine actors, the makers are planning to rope six prominent faces for the sequel which will have four anthologies.
The casting of the movie is yet to be finalized but the actors who have been reportedly locked are Abhishek Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Parineeti Chopra, Rajkummar Rao and Taapsee Pannu. While Rao is said to star opposite Chopra, the makers were looking for an A-list Gen-Y actor to step in opposite Taapsee. Arjun Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra were in talks for the role. But as both the actors opted out, newbie Ishaan Khatter was approached for the role.
But the latest reports suggest that the Dhadak actor has also declined the role. Though there is no specific reason mentioned, it was revealed by a leading daily as per their sources that Ishaan’s mentor and filmmaker Karan Johar and his management team advised him to concentrate more on solo-centric movies, as they felt being a part of an ensemble cast will put him into a certain bracket at the early stages of his career.
Well, we hope Karan’s advice works for Ishaan!
