Fans of Raabta star Sushant Singh Rajput and Judwaa 2 actress Jacqueline Fernandez are eager to see their favourite two superstars come together for the first time ever in Karan Johar’s Tarun Mansukhani directorial, Drive. Sometime around when the shoot of the film was nearing its completion, the film in question, which is a Dharma Productions venture, was rumoured to be a remake of the Hollywood film that goes by the same name and had Ryan Gosling essaying the lead.
But, those reports where shunned down by Sushant himself who, while speaking about the film being a remake to DNA, said that “Absolutely not. It’s not a remake at all. Trust me, if it was a remake of the Hollywood movie, they wouldn’t want me because then, they would have rather cast a better-looking actor. There would be Ryan Gosling, not me! (Laughs)”
And, now we hear that the film, which will unite SSR and Jackie on the screen for the first time, will not see a theatrical release at all but instead, it will be available directly for streaming on Netflix.
Speaking about the same, a source who claims to be close to the venture was quoted saying, “Netflix has entered the Indian market big time and they are looking at producing Bollywood films as well. But till then why not acquire and release a film? With Drive it looks like Netflix is doing just that. Simultaneously, for the film, this acquisition is a good deal especially since Netflix will invest in promoting and marketing the film ahead of its online release.”
