“I am not Guilty”, says Salman Khan to the Jodhpur Court!
Salman Khan is yet to come out of the shadows of the 1998 Blackbuck case that turned his life upside down. The incident that happened on the 1st of October, 1998 during the shoot of Hum Saath Saath Hain in Kankani Village near Jodhpur also involved the rest of the cast that included Tabu, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre and Karisma Kapoor. The entire ensemble was aquitted by the Jodhpur District & Sessions Court whereas Salman was convicted for five years on April 5.
The actor was granted bail two days later and the case still continues to hang in the balance. Now, he has filed a plea against his conviction which was heard by the Court yesterday. Defence lawyer Mahesh Bora citied two more instances of the Chinkara Poaching Case where Salman was acquitted by the Rajasthan High Court. And during the last hearing, Defence Counsel Hastimal Saraswat submitted an application stating that the Blackbuck case and the Arms Act case registered against the actor should be heard together as both the cases were similar in nature and had common witnesses.
The next hearing in the case is expected to be held in August.
