Has Padmaavat SPOILT Deepika Padukone?

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, Padmaavat, took the whole of the entertainment industry by storm in one way or the other. Given that the film ended up creating a lot of hype (positive or otherwise), the Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone-starrer minted a humongous total of over 300 crores on its home ground itself!

Post the mega success of the mega-project, Bollywood buffs observed that the people who essayed two of its three leading characters, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, went on a bit of a reading and signing spree as Ranveer, currently, has at least two confirmed films in his kitty (Simmba and ’83) while Shahid is not too far behind as he’s already shooting his next (Batti Gul Meter Challu) and already has a yet another prospective blockbuster in hand. But, Padmaavat’s leading lady, Deepika has reportedly NOT signed any other film as of now post the Vishal Bhardwaj film that was supposed to take off with Irrfan Khan, but it did not. If you have been following Bollywood, you know why.

So, what’s not letting DP start a new venture? Are the preparations of her rumored marriage with Ranveer Singh keeping her busy? Well, maybe not.

If reports are to be believed, no script is making her happy as she’s currently in a mood to do parts that are thoroughly author-backed.

A source, while commenting on the scenario, was quoted by a leading daily saying, “Her back/neck problem is being properly attended to and she will be fine soon. As for marriage plans, they in no way impinge on her career. The reason Deepika is not signing anything new is due to the quality of roles that are coming her way. They are all big-banner films with top heroes. But nothing even remotely as author-backed or inspiring as Padmaavat.  At this stage in her career, Deepika is no more content playing the conventional leading lady. It has to be a script that offers her as much to do as the male protagonist,”

Well, it certainly looks like Deepika has been spoilt by Bhansali, and we believe that it’s for the RIGHT reason!
