Gold v/s Satyameva Jayate: Here’s who won on Day 1!
Akshay Kumar’s Gold has trumped John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate at the box-office on Day 1. Have a look at the collections of both the films tweeted by ace trade analyst Taran Adarsh:-

#SatyamevaJayate springs a BIG SURPRISE… Plexes are good, but single screens are ROCKING… Wed ₹ 20.52 cr. India biz.

There could be two reasons behind the same, first, the content! While Akshay’s film is a period drama that narrates the fascinating and untold story of India’s first Gold Medal as an independent nation, John’s Satyameva Jayate is an ode to the cinema of the 70’s and the 80’s that can be best described as old wine in a new bottle, with little inventiveness or intrigue in the narrative or the plot.
Secondly, Gold has been allotted 60% of the screens across the country whereas Satyameva Jayate has around 40%. Having said that, both the films are likely to enjoy a fantastic run at the ticket windows and it has been proven yet again that two films can easily co-exist if they catch the pulse of the audiences.
