Fanney Khan: A story of Friendship, Passion & Parenting

Fanney Khan marks the first association of Anil Kapoor, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Bhushan Kumar as Producers and is also Atul Manjrekar’s debut film as director, who has assisted Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra in the past. The story is one of its kind musical comedy, which revolves around a father-daughter relationship, where the daughter aspires to be a singer.

A passionate storyteller, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has put in years of efforts into developing the script after acquiring its rights.

He shares, “For me, the journey of Fanney Khan started nine years ago, when i saw the Belgian film, Everybody’s Famous (2000). Over the years we at ROMP pictures, especially Bharathi (his wife) and Atul, have nurtured and developed the script, as we believe that the story of Fanney Khan, which revolves around passion, parenting and friendship, is something that needs to be told to the passes.”

Anil Kapoor, who makes his next outing as producer after the success of Veere Di Wedding (2018) says,“I was instantly drawn to the story of Fanney Khan. As a producer, I am in a fortunate position to be able to lend my support to stories that deserve to be told, and i can’t think of a better story than this that people will relate to.”

Bhushan Kumar, who’s a well-known name in the music industry and also the co-producer of this fim, was excited as soon as he heard the story. He exclaimed, “It appealed to me at a personal level because it’s a story of a a father helping his daughter achieve her dream, just the way I am fulfilling my father’s passion of making great music and films. It has a universal appeal.”

It is after 17 years that Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen together in a film.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays a singing sensation in the film. Rajkummar Rao will be portraying the love interest of Aishwarya in the film.

Fanney Khan is all set to release on 3rd August 2018.
