Deepika Padukone refuses to play Draupadi in Aamir Khan’s Mahabharata?

Deepika Padukone, who has had a blockbuster 2018 both personally and professionally, has now become immensely selective and cautious of her film choices, and her husband Ranveer Singh spoke about the same in an interview earlier this year. The only film the actress is currently committed to is Meghna Gulzar’s untitled drama, about the life of the acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal. For all those who are unaware, she was also offered the role of Draupadi in Aamir Khan’s dream project, The Mahabharata.

We also reported how the actor is planning to make it as a seven-part web series and not a full-fledged Hindi feature film. However, it has been learned that Padukone has politely declined the offer for reasons best known to her. As we stated above, she’s been very selective about her film choices, but is there anything more to her refusal? A source says, “Aamir’s Mahabharata will be the most expensive mythological film ever made in this country. It’s Aamir’s dream project and only A-listers will be cast. Deepika is the natural choice for Draupadi as she has that grace and grit. But, after Padmaavat, Deepika is bound to be wary of doing another film that could easily snowball into a controversy.”
