Deepika Padukone is Aamir Khan’s only choice for Mahabharata

Ever since Aamir Khan read The Mahabharata, he was so fascinated by the greatness and the complexities of this tale, he always had the dream of showcasing it on the big screen, and finally, after years of wait and patience, Mr. Perfectionist has begun working on the adaptation of this epic saga. It’s also being said he has begun the casting as well.

Reportedly, Aamir Khan wants Deepika Padukone to portray the role of Draupadi, one of the strongest and key characters of the mythology, which led to the blood-spattered war of The Mahabharata. However, the question here is, will Deepika agree to be a part of this massively mounted and ambitiously crafted period drama? After starring in two consecutive period dramas, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat, the actress really wants to explore something fresh and modern, light and breezy, that too with Ranveer Singh. If she says yes to the film, it’ll easily take at least a year or two for her to get out of the character of Draupadi, and she might not be able to sign any other film.

But Aamir Khan believes only the Piku star can essay this role, now only time will tell whether it’s a yes or a no from Deepika’s side. But we cannot wait to see The Mahabharata being portrayed on the celluloid, that too by Aamir Khan himself.
