‘Dear Zindagi’ in copyright trouble!
Gauri Shinde has always denied the reports of ‘Dear Zindagi’ being inspired by Canadian TV series, ‘Being Erica’. But according to an insider, Temple Street Production has sent a legal notice to Dharma Productions for plagiarism.
According to the source, “Karan and the Dharma CEO, Apoorva Mehta were not aware that DZ was inspired in such detail from the Canadian show. Meanwhile, Gauri maintains her script is original, but the similarities are too glaring to go unnoticed. Gauri Khan, who is also one of the producers, and the makers are now trying to figure how to sort it out amicably. This is the first time that Dharma, which has a clean reputation, has faced a plagiarism charge.”
When asked about the legal notice, Dharma CEO Apoorva Mehta said, “It’s not true. We haven’t received anything at all.”
When Gauri Shinde was contacted, she had rather something different to say, “Huh? I don’t even know what series you are talking about. But, yes, it is a good try on the part of whoever wants to bring this movie down. Why don’t people watch the show, since I haven’t, and decide for themselves? I don’t read rubbish. There is so much baseless crap out there and I can’t respond to everything.”
The news was disappointing for viewers who loved the movie.
