Bollywood biopics continue with Shraddha as Saina Nehwal

Looks like Bollywood is going through a biopic phase and we are not complaining. With Padman, Gold and Kalpana Chawla’s untitled biopic, there’s an addition to this bunch with Saina Nehwal’s biopic now announced.

Director Amole Gupte has jumped on the biopic bandwagon too and is all set to start working on Sania Nehwal’s biopic. The badminton player who made India proud in 2012’s Summer Olympics will be played by Shraddha Kapoor.

Shraddha confirmed the news saying, “Most girls would have played badminton at some point in their lives in school. I feel so lucky to be playing Saina, who is not just among the world’s top badminton players, but also a youth icon. I can’t wait to start prepping for my role.”

Saina reacted to Shraddha being cast saying, “Whoa! That’s news to me… I was aware of the film, yes. But I didn’t know about this casting. It’s great if Shraddha is playing me because she is a very talented actress and very hardworking! I am sure she will do justice to the role. The best part is, she is a good friend as well. So it will be easier to teach her some badminton (laughs). A lot of people tell me that we look similar and I think that’s a huge compliment because Shraddha is very beautiful.”
