BIRTHDAY SPECIAL: The Evolution Of Taapsee Pannu
Taapsee Pannu started her cinematic journey in 2010 with the Telugu film, Jhummandi Naadam.
And since we have been following the trend of actors from the South foraying into Hindi Cinema since the rise and rise of Sridevi from Himmatwala (1983), we knew Pannu would explore Bollywood too! She made her Hindi film debut with David Dhawan’s Chashme Baddoor in 2013. Although a commercial success, it did nothing for the actress that she could relish.
It was Neeraj Pandey’s Baby in 2015 that made quite a few heads turn and made people recognize the power she can generate if given a powerful role to chew on.
A year later, in the fierce and discomforting courtroom drama Pink, Pannu proved she can be as fragile as fearless. The critical and box-office success of this film only paved way for more Bollywood offers.
Out of all the Hindi films she did after Pink, it was only Judwaa 2 that fetched a considerable audience.
As far as 2018 is concerned, she has just delivered another hit in the form of Soorma, which has garnered immense appreciation for the portrayal of India’s greatest comeback in sports history.
All set to star this week in Mulk and Manmarziyaan in September, both the movies promise to give her flesh-and-blood characters that shall make her repertoire only better.
