Akshay Kumar to start shooting for Gold in July
Akshay Kumar has been one of the busiest actors in B-Town recently. He is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. After this, Akshay will soon begin shooting for his much-awaited film Gold based on the life of Balbir Singh. Gold is a sports drama which will showcase the journey of India winning its 1st gold medal as a free nation in the Olympics, 1948.
Along with Akshay, the film also stars Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Sunny Kaushal and they have started prepping up for the role in London under the supervision of former Indian captain, Sandeep Singh.
A close source to the movie revealed “Sandeep Singh trained the actors for a few months before they flew off for the international schedule. The Arjuna awardee who took over as captain of the Indian national team in January 2009, was roped in to ensure that the actors looked like authentic hockey players on the field. In Bradford, the team is also holding auditions at the city center for local actors to portray international hockey players of the rival team. An international coach has been hired to train them there,”
Akshay Kumar is likely to join the team in the first week of July. We had earlier even reported that television hottie Mouni Roy will also begin shooting for Gold in August.
The movie is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under their production house, Excel Entertainment.
