After Padmaavat, Manikarnika to face PROTESTS?

Padmaavat turned out to be the best cinematic experience that its helmer, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has given till date, but, the film did not see the light of day without an awful lot of protests and controversies. And now, it looks like Kangana Ranaut could possibly face the same kind of (fairly annoying) oppositions with regards to her biggest film till date, Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi.

Yes, you read that right! But, things haven’t materialized the way it did for Bhansali’s epic drama, although protests have somewhat begun.

At a press conference in Jaipur, Suresh Mishra, the president of the Sarva Brahman Mahasabha (SBM) said, “We learnt about it from our friends and acquaintances in various parts of Rajasthan where some scenes of the film are being shot. The film is based on a foreigner’s book and tries to dampen the queen’s reputation.”

To this, Mishra added, “Nobody can even imagine that Maharani Laxmi Bai could have an affair. She died fighting the British at a young age. If a film is to be made on her life, it should be a biopic,”

And then, he urged that an affidavit must be sought from the producers that history isn’t being distorted at all via the film.

Well, this now seems like a sensible way of going about things. Certain people (Ahem, the Karni Sena, Ahem) should learn from them!
