2 Years of Sultan: Was it better than SRK’s Chak De! India & Aamir’s Dangal?

Salman Khan delivered his most vulnerable and believable performance in Ali Abbas Zafar’s sports drama, Sultan. The film that completes two years today became the biggest opener of all time back in 2016 and raked in 36.54 crores at the ticket windows on Day 1. But after a long time, not only the hard-core Salman Khan fans, but even some of his harshest critics were mighty impressed with the superstar’s portrayal of a wrestler fighting his own demons due to the loss of a loved one.

That scene where Salman breaks down in front of the mirror after seeing his embarrassing pot-belly gave us a glimpse of the actor beneath the star, and it’s quite surprising that he still feels hesitant and reluctant to visit that scene.

But when it comes to action scenes, there’s hardly anyone who can give him a run for his money. The MMA fight scenes had both adrenaline rush and nifty choreography, a perfect blend of class appeal and mass entertainment.

And of course, we also got quite a few montages of the star’s fun and cheerful side as he relentlessly tried to woo Aarfa, the only female wrestler in the town, played by Anushka Sharma.

All in all, Sultan had something for everyone and that’s why it was a BLOCKBUSTER! Now, the question is- Whether it was better than Shah Rukh Khan’s Chak De! India and Aamir Khan’s Dangal? We’ll let you decide on that one!
