Dhadkan 2 is on the cards and we have the inside scoop!

Shilpa Shetty was madly in love with Suniel Shetty and wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. But, she eventually had to leave him to marry a man of her father’s choice, Akshay Kumar. Sounds familiar? Yes, you made the right guess! We are talking about Dharmesh Darshan’s romantic drama, ‘Dhadkan’! The 2000 film dealt with this triangular love story. ‘Dhadkan’ starred Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Shilpa Shetty in the lead. Now, after 16 years of its release, the film is all set to have a sequel!

Filmmaker Prem Soni is planning to make ‘Dhadkan 2’. Soni made his Bollywood debut with Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer ‘Main Aurr Mrs Khanna’ in 2009. This was followed by Preity Zinta starrer ‘Ishkq in Paris’ (2013). He is all set to make his third film now! Our Khabri Keeda tells us that the director had initially approached Fawad Khan, Sooraj Pancholi and Shraddha Kapoor to essay the lead trio. He had even started negotiations regarding their payment. But that’s no longer happening! The filmmaker has apparently dropped the idea of working with these actors and is thinking of launching fresh faces. As we all know, this trend was started by Karan Johar, who launched Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan with his movie ‘Student of the Year’ in 2012. Today, other filmmakers are following suit!

Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ faced severe protests from political parties in the wake of Uri attacks for casting Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. Shraddha’s latest release ‘Rock On 2’ was a Box Office debacle. We wonder if all these made the filmmaker change his mind!
