Deepika Padukone’s film gets a title, Vikrant Massey to be the leading man!
Deepika Padukone, who’s collaborating with Meghna Gulzar to narrate to the world the story of the acid-attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal, has finally found his on-screen partner in the form of the incredibly talented actor, Vikrant Massey. So the rumors of Rajkummar Rao starring in the film have been finally put to rest. And now coming to the title, the film is called Chhapaak, that means the sound of splash. Massey will essay the role of Alok Dixit, who was Agarwal’s partner.
Talking about bringing the actor on board, Gulzar said, “The cast is slowly coming together. Vikrant is somebody I’ve wanted to work with since Raazi, after seeing him in A Death in the Gunj. In the film, he plays a North Indian boy who used to be a professional before he decided to become an actor, then, started a campaign against acid violence which is how he came to meet Laxmi in real life. I speak for both Deepika and myself when I say that we are both really excited to have Vikrant play this part.”
On being asked what made Padukone say yes to the part, the director said, “It was that organic because it’s such a moving story. And the decision to co-produce the film with her also happened organically because I wanted to remain close to it through the entire process.”
This truly promises to be a moving and haunting tale of shock and survival!
